Detox Arena — Privacy Policy

Detox Arena is a screen-time leaderboard game published by CryoSim. This page explains exactly what the app collects and why.

What we collect

For the leaderboard, the app sends the following to CryoSim's own server (https://cryosim.com/projects/detoxarena/api):

• An anonymous device ID and token — random values generated on first launch (not tied to your Google account, phone number, or email). There is no sign-up or login.
• A display name and PIN/postal code you choose to enter — used only to show you in leaderboards and group you into Area/City/State/National rankings.
• Country / state / city — either typed by you, or filled in from a one-time GPS lookup only if you tap "Use my GPS location" and grant the permission. The GPS position is turned into a country/state/city name by Android's own Geocoder service on your phone; the coordinates are not sent to CryoSim, and only the country/state/city text is kept. The app does not track your location in the background. You can decline this and enter it manually instead.
• Your screen time — read on-device via Android's Usage Access permission. The app sends today's total minutes and this hour's minutes. The app can also show YOU a per-app breakdown of your own screen time on your device (a “Screen Usage” view), but it never transmits which apps you use — that stays on your phone.
• Leagues — the name and code of any league you create or join.
• An optional profile photo — only if you add one on the You tab. A tiny, low-resolution copy (48×48 pixels) is stored on our backend and shown next to your name on leaderboards so league-mates can recognise you. It is entirely optional — skip it and a coloured initial is shown instead — and you can replace it any time.

Separately, to keep your points safe across reinstalls, the app sends CryoSim's points service (https://cryosim.com/assets/points/ledger) the app name, a scrambled device ID (a one-way code made from your phone's Android ID and the app's package name — the Android ID itself is not sent), your points balance, your own invite code and any invite code you entered. This is sent the first time you open the app, when you open it again (at most once every 10 minutes) and when you use the invite feature.

Anonymous usage events

Separately from the leaderboard data above, the app sends anonymous product-usage events to our own first-party collector at https://cryosim.com/assets/analytics/collect — for example: the app was opened (the first one also says how the app was installed — source, medium and campaign from Google Play), a screen was viewed, a feature was used, a share, and seconds spent in the app. These tell us which parts of the app are actually used so we can improve them. You can turn them off at any time: open More and switch off Share anonymous usage data — it takes effect straight away, with no restart, and nothing further is sent.

What is never sent with them: no display name, no PIN or postal code, no location, no screen-time measurement, no photo, and no list of your apps. They carry only event names, counts (such as the daily goal you pick, or a streak milestone), and a random identifier the app generates for this install — separate from your leaderboard device ID, and not your Android ID or an advertising ID. Clearing the app’s data resets it. No third-party analytics SDK is used, and our server does not store your IP address.

What we never collect

• No name, email, or phone number tied to a real identity.
• No list of installed or used apps.
• No continuous or background location, and no GPS coordinates.
• No advertising SDKs are currently integrated in this app, and no advertising ID is used.

How it's used

Your device ID, token, name, PIN, country/state/city, league, photo and minutes are sent to our backend solely to compute and display leaderboard rankings (league, area, city, state, national, world). League codes let you compare your screen time with friends who join the same league.

Data retention & deletion

Uninstalling the app stops all further reporting. The device ID is not shown in the app, so to request deletion of your leaderboard record, contact us with your display name and league code and we will locate and delete it — see contact details on our website. Detox Arena does not use Android's cloud backup, so its data is not copied to your Google account.

Permissions used

• PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS (Usage Access) — your screen-time minutes; the per-app breakdown is shown only on your phone.
• ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION — optional, user-initiated, one-time lookup only.
• POST_NOTIFICATIONS — optional daily standing reminder.
• INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to reach the leaderboard, points and usage-event services above, and Google Play's in-app update check, in-app review prompt and install referrer.
