Hinglish ("the app") is a Hindi–English learning app published by CryoSim. This policy explains what information the app does and does not handle. In short: Hinglish has no accounts and never asks for your name, e-mail, contacts or location. It sends CryoSim a scrambled device ID with your points, and anonymous usage events that you can switch off.
The app has no user accounts and requires no sign-in. When your phone is online, the app sends the following to CryoSim's own server (cryosim.com):
Your learning progress (levels completed, daily streaks, review schedule, and settings) is stored on your device. Apart from the points balance described above, it is not uploaded to us. If Android backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may copy this app data into your Google account backup. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes it from the phone.
To let you practise speaking, the app uses your phone's speech-recognition service to turn your spoken answer into text. Your voice goes to that service (on most phones this is Google's), which may process it online rather than on the phone. Hinglish itself does not record, store, or send your audio to CryoSim. The microphone is used only while you actively tap the speak button.
The app reads out answers using voice clips built into the app, or your device's text-to-speech engine where there is no clip. No data is sent to us in this process.
Hinglish does not include a machine translator and does not download any translation model. The lessons and phrases are built into the app.
If you turn on reminders, the app schedules local notifications on your device to nudge you to practise. No notification data leaves your device.
The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. It does not use an advertising ID.
It does send anonymous product-usage events to our own first-party collector
at https://cryosim.com/assets/analytics/collect — for example: the app was opened
(the first one also says how the app was installed — source, medium and campaign from Google Play),
a screen was viewed, a feature was used, a share, a practice session was started, how many cards
were in it, and seconds spent in the app. This tells us which parts of the app are actually used
so we can improve them. You can turn them off at any time: open More › App and
switch off Share anonymous usage data — it takes effect straight away, with no
restart, and nothing further is sent.
What is never sent: no lesson or phrase text, no word you searched for, no answer you gave, no speech or recording, no name, email or phone number. Events carry only event names, counts, and a random identifier the app generates for this install — not your Android ID and not an advertising ID. Clearing the app’s data resets it. Our server does not store your IP address.
The lessons themselves work without a network connection. The app's internet connection is used for the points and usage events described above, and for Google Play's in-app update check, in-app review prompt and install referrer (which tells the app how it was installed).
The app is intended for users aged 13 and above. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date.
