How the FLAMES game works

FLAMES is the name game many of us played in school with a pencil and the back of a notebook. Each letter stands for one outcome: Friends, Love, Affection, Marriage, Enemies and Siblings. This FLAMES calculator does the counting for you.

  1. Write both names and cross out every letter they share, one-for-one.
  2. Count the letters that are left over in both names together.
  3. Count around F-L-A-M-E-S by that number and strike out the letter you land on.
  4. Keep counting from the next letter until only one is left — that is your result.

Worked example: Rahul & Priya

RAHUL & PRIYA — R and A cancel, leaving H, U, L, P, I, Y: 6 letters. Counting 6 around FLAMES strikes S, then F, A, L and E, which leaves M — Marriage. 💍

Honest bit: FLAMES is a playground game built on letter counting. The love %, zodiac and numerology tabs are for fun too. None of it can predict a real relationship — play it for the laugh. All FlamesFun features, rules and questions.

FLAMES game FAQ

What does FLAMES stand for?
Friends, Love, Affection, Marriage, Enemies and Siblings — the six outcomes the game counts its way through.
How is the FLAMES result calculated?
Letters the two names share are crossed out one-for-one. The number of letters left over is used to count around F-L-A-M-E-S, striking out a letter each round until one remains. If every letter cancels, you get “Soulmates”.
Is the FLAMES result accurate?
No — and it is not meant to be. FLAMES is a playground game based on letter counting. It cannot predict a relationship; play it for the laugh, not for advice.
Why do the same two names always give the same answer?
Everything is worked out from the letters, so it is repeatable: the same pair always lands on the same FLAMES word and the same fun score.
Are the names I type stored or sent anywhere?
No. The game runs in your browser. Your last few results are kept only on your device (the Recent list). Sharing sends exactly the text you see, through the app you choose.
Is FlamesFun free?
Yes — free and nothing to install. Without an account you get 3 free readings a day; sign in free with Google for unlimited readings. Open the page, type two names and play.
