Pomodoro timer

Focus for 25 minutes, rest for 5, and take a longer break after every fourth session. Free, in your browser — press Start.

Focus
25:00
0 sessions today

Focus, then a short break. Four focus sessions earn a long break. Kept on this device.

How to use the Pomodoro technique

  1. Pick one task — just one — and press Start.
  2. Work on it until the timer rings. If something else comes up, write it down and get back to the task.
  3. Take the short break: stand up, look away from the screen, have some water.
  4. After four focus sessions, take the long break before the next round.

Twenty-five minutes is the classic length. If you find it hard to settle into deep work in that time, try 50 minutes; if 25 feels long, start with 15 and work up.

Pomodoro timer — FAQ

What is a Pomodoro timer?
A timer for the Pomodoro technique: you work on one task for a fixed focus session, take a short break, and repeat. After four focus sessions you take a longer break.
How long is one Pomodoro on this timer?
A focus session is 25 minutes by default, followed by a 5-minute short break. Every fourth focus session is followed by a 15-minute long break. You can switch the focus length to 15 or 50 minutes.
Does the next session start automatically?
Yes. When a focus session or a break ends, a short tone plays and the next phase starts by itself. Pause, Reset and Skip are always available.
Does it keep time if I switch tabs?
Yes. The countdown is worked out from the clock rather than counted tick by tick, so it stays accurate in a background tab, and the tab title shows the time left. Keep the tab open until you are done.
Do I need an account?
No. The timer runs in your browser with nothing to install. The count of sessions you finish today is kept only in this browser.
Is this the same timer as in DayFlow?
Yes. DayFlow, a free weekly planner, has this Focus Timer built in (the tomato button), plus a mode that runs a focus block from a start time to an end time. On the same browser, sessions finished here also count there.
