How the Gratuity Calculator works

Gratuity = Last salary × 15 × Years ÷ 26

  • Last salary — last drawn monthly Basic + Dearness Allowance
  • Years — completed years of service (more than 6 months in the final year counts as a full year)
  • 26 — working days in a month, as the Act assumes

Worked example

Last Basic + DA of ₹50,000 a month, 10 years of service:

Calculation50,000 × 15 × 10 ÷ 26
Gratuity₹2,88,462

Gratuity payable is about ₹2,88,462, well under the ₹20 lakh tax-exempt limit.
