How the PPF Calculator works

Balanceyear = (Balanceprevious + D) × (1 + r)

  • D — yearly deposit (₹500 to ₹1,50,000)
  • r — PPF interest rate ÷ 100

The calculator assumes the whole deposit is made at the start of each financial year, so it earns interest for the full year. The PPF rate is set by the government every quarter — enter the current one.

Worked example

₹1.5 lakh a year for 15 years at 7.1%:

Total deposited₹22,50,000
Maturity value₹40,68,209
Interest earned (tax-free)₹18,18,209

If the rate stayed at 7.1% for all 15 years, the account would mature at about ₹40,68,209.
