Eye acupressure — the four EyeFit sequences

EyeFit uses three pressure points on the bone around the eye — the inner upper socket just below the eyebrow, the lower socket bone under the centre of the eye, and either side of the bridge of the nose — plus a full cycle that combines all three with a light tapping circuit round the socket.

Each point is pressed for one second and released for one second, rhythmically, with your eyes closed. The pressure goes on the bone, never on the eye itself. The four sequences below appear in almost every EyeFit routine, for 2 to 5 minutes each.

Wellness only — not medical care. These are general eye-comfort and relaxation exercises. They are not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and do not treat, cure, or prevent any eye disease. For any vision problem, see a qualified eye-care professional — do not delay or replace medical care. Sudden changes in vision, flashes of light, a shower of new floaters or eye pain need urgent care.

How to do it

Acupressure 1 — Upper Socket

Gentle rhythmic pressure on the upper eye-socket point.

  1. Close your eyes.
  2. Place your thumbs on the inside of the upper eye socket — close to the nose, just below the eyebrow.
  3. Locate the bony ridge or nub — this is the acupressure point.
  4. Press firmly for 1 second, then release for 1 second.
  5. Continue pressing and releasing for the full duration.

Tip: Press on the bone, never on the eyeball itself — firmly but not painfully. The correct spot usually feels like a slight bony nub.

Acupressure 2 — Lower Socket

Gentle rhythmic pressure on the lower eye-socket bone.

  1. Close your eyes.
  2. Place your index and middle fingertips on the lower eye socket bone, directly underneath the centre of your eye.
  3. Press firmly for 1 second, then release for 1 second.
  4. Continue pressing and releasing for the full duration.

Acupressure 3 — Bridge of Nose

Gentle rhythmic pressure on either side of the bridge of the nose.

  1. Close your eyes.
  2. Place your thumb and index finger on either side of the bridge of your nose.
  3. Squeeze firmly for 1 second, then release for 1 second.
  4. Continue squeezing and releasing for the full duration.

Acupressure 4 — Full Eye Massage

A full acupressure cycle combining all three points plus a tapping circuit.

  1. Upper Socket: Press thumbs on inner upper eye socket (below eyebrow, near nose) for 30 seconds.
  2. Lower Socket: Press index + middle fingers on lower socket bone (under eye centre) for 30 seconds.
  3. Nose Bridge: Pinch both sides of the nose bridge for 30 seconds.
  4. Tapping Circuit: Gently tap in a full circle around the entire eye socket with index + middle fingers — 3 circles.
  5. Repeat the full cycle (all 4 steps) 5 times in sequence.

Tip: Begin tapping from the upper socket position and work outward and around each eye.

What you need

  • Clean hands
  • Short fingernails

When to stop

  • Press on bone only — never on the eyeball or eyelid.
  • Skip acupressure if you have keratoconus, recent eye surgery or an eye infection, or if you have been told not to rub or press on your eyes.
  • Firm is fine; painful is not.

Do it with a guided timer

EyeFit runs this exercise inside timed routines — each step counts down, beeps when time is up and shows the steps and demo on screen. Free, in your browser. It appears in:
