Getting started with SIRE Pro

Five minutes to set up the ship, then each officer works their own SIRE 2.0 areas on their own phone — online or at sea with no signal. Pick your rank for a one-screen start, or read the office guide.

Set up in five steps

  1. Open and install. Open SIRE Pro in Chrome (Android) or Safari (iPhone) while you have signal and add it to the home screen. After the first start it opens with no signal.
  2. Set up your ship. Tap through the welcome screen, then Get started: vessel name, your rank, the inspection date and port. The IMO number is optional.
  3. Find your list. Home has four ways in: 1 Ship’s Officers, 2 Ratings & Crew, 3 By Location (walk the ship) and 4 Office, Documents & Placards.
  4. Work each check. Open a question and set Covered, In progress or Issue; add a remark with an owner and due date; attach photos. Everything open collects on Actions.
  5. Share the result. File › Export a copy passes your file to the Master, who merges it; the PDF readiness report goes to the office.

Quick start by rank

One screen each: where your list is in the app and the first things to do with it.

Master

Home › 1 Ship’s Officers › Master

  1. Tap the vessel bar on Home and set the Inspection date — Home then counts down and shows the ship’s % ready.
  2. Work your own areas: the Master’s files, the filing system, certificate order, the dates sheet and test intervals.
  3. Collect each officer’s file with Team › Merge an officer’s file, then Export the combined master file.
  4. Before arrival, Actions › PDF readiness report for the office, and rehearse with Face the inspector.

Chief Officer

Home › 1 Ship’s Officers › Chief Officer

  1. Start with the deck round, then cargo instruments, gas meters and their calibration records.
  2. Mooring (MEG4) and the sample locker: mark each check Covered, In progress or Issue.
  3. Photograph certificates and labels with Add photo — they go into the PDF appendix.
  4. Log every defect as a remark with an owner and a due date; they collect on the Actions tab.

2nd Officer

Home › 1 Ship’s Officers › 2nd Officer

  1. The bridge is the longest list on board: ECDIS, passage plan, radar, steering, GMDSS, VDR, lights, publications, logs.
  2. Walk it in order with 3 By Location and tick as you go — it works offline on the bridge.
  3. Use the rank’s Inspector drill to practise the questions you will be asked at the chart table.
  4. Anything you cannot close yourself: a remark with the owner and a due date, so the Master sees it.

3rd Officer

Home › 1 Ship’s Officers › 3rd Officer

  1. Fire plans, SCBA, EEBDs, lifejackets and life buoys, the fire main, liferafts, rescue boat and lifeboat.
  2. Photograph service tags and inspection records as evidence.
  3. Put servicing due dates in remarks — overdue items show on Actions.
  4. Rehearse the LSA / FFA answers with Face the inspector.

Chief & 2nd Engineer

Home › 1 Ship’s Officers › Chief / 2nd Engineer

  1. Fuel and lube oil, duties, PMS and spares, OWS and bilges, hot work, the steering flat, waste and inert gas.
  2. Tick each check, and attach the record or photo the inspector will ask for.
  3. Split the work: give the 2nd Engineer the areas he owns and merge his file back later.
  4. Every open item becomes a remark with an owner and due date for the handover list.

Office / Superintendent

Home › 4 Office, Documents & Placards

  1. The office lists: Posters & Placards, Pre-Audit Tasks, Documents to Deliver and the SIRE Document Pack.
  2. Load the company SMS once with the SMS tile (ZIP, PDF, Word or Excel) — each question then shows your own procedure pages. It is indexed on the device, never uploaded.
  3. Ships send you their project file or the PDF readiness report; open a file with File › Open…
  4. Setting up several ships? Read the office guide below.

For the office: licences, members and vessels

How a company set-up works today. A ship does not need any of this to start — the app works with no account.

  1. The licence. A company licence is set up by CryoSim for your organisation: which app, how many vessels, and for how long. Ask for a pilot or a fleet quote.
  2. Vessels. CryoSim registers each vessel on the licence by name and IMO number (the IMO check digit is verified). One vessel uses one seat.
  3. Members. You send us the e-mail address of each person who should be on the licence. When that person signs in to cryosim.com with Google using that address, their account is bound to the seat once, for good. A password-only account is bound by us after we confirm it with you. To swap a person, tell us.
  4. Roles. CryoSim sets each member as office or crew. A crew member is assigned to one vessel (by its IMO number) on your licence.
  5. Sharing. With account sync, a vessel’s project reaches the fleet only when the officer who keeps it turns sharing on for that project. Shared projects are read-only for everyone else.
  6. The fleet view. Office members see every shared vessel on the licence — readiness %, open issues, overdue actions, the next due date and the inspection date. Crew members see only the shared projects of their own vessel. Nobody outside your licence sees anything.
