Pollution Prevention and Control 0/3 20 questions in RISQ 3.2
Run the oily water separator and prove the 15 ppm alarm stops overboard discharge, so you can show it working without delay. Make sure every Oil Record Book entry matches tank soundings, sludge figures and shore receipts, and that each page is signed. Retain bunker delivery notes and fuel samples for the period your SMS sets and confirm the sulphur content suits the fuel in use. Keep the sewage plant and incinerator clean, working and logged, with operating instructions posted at the equipment. Work through all 20 section 5 questions in RightShip Pro →
41 questions in RISQ 3.2
Keep the planned maintenance system up to date, with overdue jobs explained and critical equipment clearly identified. A clean, dry, well-lit engine room with no oil-soaked lagging says a great deal before any question is asked. Test the steering gear, emergency fire pump and quick-closing valves regularly and keep the records easy to find. Make sure bilge and UMS alarms are tested and that every engineer can explain how the alarm system escalates. Work through all 41 section 13 questions in RightShip Pro →

Fuel Management — Oil 0/3 11 questions in RISQ 3.2 · Only for: Oil-fuelled ships
Keep a current bunkering plan, tank capacities and sounding tables ready so figures can be checked against what is on board. Show that fuel changeover procedures are written, practised and logged with times, positions and tank contents. Look after drip trays and save-alls around fuel pumps, purifiers and filters, as leaks there are easy to spot on a walk-round. Work through all 11 section 7A questions in RightShip Pro →

Fuel Management — LNG 0/3 30 questions in RISQ 3.2 · Only for: LNG-fuelled ships
Be ready to explain the gas fuel system from bunker station to engine, including each safety shutdown and what triggers it. Test gas detection, ventilation and double-wall pipe monitoring at the interval your SMS sets, and keep the results recorded. Make sure every engineer handling LNG holds the IGF Code training their role requires, with certificates on file. Treat bunkering as a planned operation, with a checklist, agreed communications and the emergency stop tested before transfer. Work through all 30 section 7B questions in RightShip Pro →

Fuel Management — Methanol 0/3 11 questions in RISQ 3.2 · Only for: Methanol-fuelled ships
Know the fire and toxicity hazards of methanol, including its almost invisible flame, and how the crew would detect and fight one. Keep the fuel preparation room, its ventilation and leak detection maintained and tested, with records to prove it. Check that nitrogen inerting and purging arrangements work and that the crew know when and how they are used. Work through all 11 section 7C questions in RightShip Pro →
7D
Fuel Management — Ammonia 0/3 21 questions in RISQ 3.2 · Only for: Ammonia-fuelled ships
Be clear on the toxicity of ammonia, the alarm levels set for your ship and the actions each alarm level triggers. Make sure breathing apparatus, escape sets and decontamination showers near ammonia spaces can be used at once. Show that leak detection, ventilation and emergency shutdowns are tested regularly and that any faults are followed up. Keep ammonia release drills realistic, including casualty handling and mustering upwind of the leak. Work through all 21 section 7D questions in RightShip Pro →
